Autumnn’s Musical Journey

The First Musical Path

The musical path first taken started at age five. Not only was I a proficient swimmer but I was also a ballerina until age seven. I miss my instructor Miss Dawn! My father also put me in Tap & Jazz, among many other sports.

Tap, Jazz, & Talent Shows

From age seven to around age ten I completed Tap for my age group then Jazz from age ten to twelve also completing that for my age group. By this time I was in fifth or sixth grade & I entered my school’s talent show. The lead cheerleader took the spotlight in Jazz, dancing commercial Jazz while I was a back up or for my part, dancing a mix of Contemporary & Classical. I danced the night away to Spyro Gyra’s “Morning Dance” song in my special Jazz dance outfit my father purchased for my special night. *Dance pictures coming soon!* This group has been a favorite Jazz group ever since. Dad listened to a lot of Jazz- being raised in the south it’s a big deal. Before the talent show we scoped out a music shop & purchased Spyro & George Benson!

After a ballet rehearsal

Danced to the self titled song, “Morning Dance” in summer camp talent show

Danced to “This Masquerade” in school talent show

Both of these albums are still my favorite from these amazing artists to this day!

Britney Spears, Pop Boy Groups, & Summer Camp Talent Shows

Since age nine I’ve been a huge pop fan & still am! With the love of Pop & being an experienced dancer, I used to make up dance moves to artists like Britney Spears, N’SYNC, The Backstreet Boys, Aaron & Nick Carter, among many other pop stars while having the skill of learning their dance moves & replicating the entire dances.

In fifth grade, (wish I had a picture!) my best friend & I at the time won an on the spot dance contest to an N’SYNC’s “Pop” in our music class! So much fun!! I’d also show my dance skills in summer camp talent shows every summer from age 8-12!

Britney Spears will always be the Pop Queen, always & forever a fan & I commend her for her whistleblowing &. I’m a Justin Timberlake fan for life!

During these ages I was also in Tumbling, Gymnastics, & Cheerleading these sports helped form me as a dancer as well as being a competitive swimmer. *Pictures coming soon*

Unfortunately at age nine I injured my back but continued on with my sports until age fifteen when I was forced to end my athletic career. At this time I became my high school’s swim team manager then had back surgery the next year, ultimately & permanently ending my dancing & athletic career. Although I’m able to walk now thanks to the surgery, the one wish I had was for the injury to not have advanced as badly as it did

I’m grateful & blessed I’m able to walk & I’m empathetic to those who cannot

Thank you Reader for taking the time to read about my first musical journey! You are greatly appreciated & welcomed to Thorn’s Musical Realm!
